Salyens announced the conclusion of its involvement in the latest phase of the MediaNet project ---------------- TOKYO, Japan (17 October, 2005) MediaNet is a European project targeting multimedia communications and A/V content distribution services for residential markets, carried out by a consortium of several European industries, universities and research institutes. Salyens provided technical expertise and Smeet, our flagship video conferencing software, to Thomson Telecom (acting as coordinator for MediaNet) and researchers of the Universite de Technologie de Compiegne for a 802.11g wireless testbed used in their study of Quality of Service (QoS), WiFi Multi Media (WMM) and Admission Control. "Our customers have used Smeet over WiFi networks since early 2005, as well as earlier versions of our software for providing video communication services between mobile phones and home PCs." said Arnaud Tardy, Salyens co-founder. He continued, "Needless to say, I am particularly happy with these researchers' interest in, and later praises for Smeet." Salyens has accumulated much experience over the years from competitive benchmarks and interoperability testing with products from major companies, including Polycom, Tandberg, RADVision, France Telecom and Microsoft. "The Windows and Linux software developed by Salyens proved particularly versatile and a top performer in many areas such as video quality and bandwidth. With all the developers involved, I am very proud of this achievement." added Arnaud Tardy. While the MediaNet project comes to an end in November 2005, Salyens will continue to provide innovative video conferencing solutions to organisations and research institutes world-wide.
